2006-04-30 09:35:00
Vincent Melinn won 350,000 sterling pounds in the biggest poker event in Ireland.

Vincent Melinn, an accountant of Dublin, is the winner of the biggest poker tournament in Ireland. Melinn will take home 350,000 sterling pounds of the prize pool, which went over 1 million dollars. After beating his opponents, Melinn declared that he did it for the title, and not for the money.

Vincent Melinn, 54, said that it was only the second time he participated in a poker tournament. Ian Woodley of south London is the second comer who went home with 182,000 sterling pounds. The total prize pool in the biggest poker tournament in the history of Ireland is 1,068,000 sterling pounds.

Sky Sports 2 had broadcasted the final table of the poker tournament across Europe. According to many poker fans, it was one of the best poker events to be televised. Sky Sports 2 offers European poker fans a second chance to watch it on Wednesday April 18 at 7 pm.
