Bill Outlaws Casino Credit to Drunks.

2007-01-15 12:34:00
A proposed bill would make it illegal for casinos to offer credit without giving a Sobriety test.

After a Kentucky man who witnesses say was visibly drunk was allowed to take $75,000 in credit from an Indiana casino one State Senator is suggesting sobriety tests become mandatory before a player be allowed to accept any casino credit over $1,000.

This will not only protect a drunk player from having the casino take advantage of them, but it will also protect the casinos from a drunk who can not afford the credit but is too drunk to make a responsible decision. The sobriety tests will also protect the state from having to fill their courts with cases of players and casinos arguing who is at fault.

The new law if passed would use the same standards as if someone were pulled over for drunk driving if your test shows over a 0.08 BAC you would not be allowed to get any credit until your BAC went down.

Although many casinos around the country offer their players free drinks when they are playing, Indiana has outlawed that to try to stop people from making decisions when drunk that they will regret the next day.

The Bill is currently waiting for review by the Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Public Policy and Interstate Cooperation Committee. Once reviewed it will be determined if it gets a hearing or not.
