Colorado legislative panel approved a change in the state smoking-ban rule on Monday. According to the amendment, casinos will be excluded from the general rule that forbids smoking in public areas.
Parker Republican Rep. Mike May, who promoted the bill, succeed in convincing Health Committee majorities to deny other trials to change the bill to create more exclusions from the generally bill that forbids smoking indoors.
May claimed that the amendment is required in order to prevent from non smoking gamblers and especially casino employees exposure to second hand smoking and related disease. The Colorado Restaurant Association suggested ruling of a statewide smoking ban law for the second year instead of the different limitations and exclusions.
