The UK Times reports that a growing number of women adopt poker playing as a pastime habit. In contrast to the traditional view that sees the poker as a masculine game, more UK ladies participate both in online and live poker games.
One example to the women invention of the live poker sites is the last tournament in Chelsea London. 30 women professional players participated in the tournament and played no limit Texas holdem. Ms Hastie, who reached number 3 in the tournament and earned 250 pounds, says that poker games became a common social event for her and her woman friends.
Most of the women who play poker prefer to play it in an all women environment. Mary Caldecott Smith, 34, who participated in the Chelsea tournament, said she finds that playing without men is much more relaxing.
