US and Antigua Gambling Industry Do Battle

2006-04-09 07:05:00
The US has not revealed its stance regarding the WTO compliance progress.

Since the WTO ruling on Antigua online gambling industry in 2005, the US has not revealed its stance regarding the WTO compliance progress.

The US Trade Representative said, in a statement to the WTO Dispute Settlement Body, that the US administration has been working on resolving this matter.

Antigua had responded both to the US satisfaction regarding the issue and the recent ban online gambling bills introduced to Congress. Antigua representative claimed the US is acting the opposite of the recommendations and rulings of the Dispute Settlement Body.

The deadline for US compliance is on April 3. Within two weeks, US stance regarding WTO recommendations and rulings would be clearer.
